A member of the CEU's Energy Policy Research Group Dr Philipp Thaler published his recent article “The European Commission and the European Council: Coordinated Agenda setting in European energy policy” in the Journal of European integration. In the publication he investigates the effects of a growing importance of the European Council for policy integration – a trend that has been experienced in various fields in the post-Maastricht era – in the specific context of EU energy policy.

Vija Pakalkaite, who began her doctoral studies at CEU in 2012, received funding from the School of Public Policy Travel and Research Grant Fund to attend the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) Conference on Regulatory Governance in Tilburg, the Netherlands in July.

Energy Security in the Black Sea Basin: Challenges and Options

On the 7^th of October CEU has welcomed Radu Dudău, an Associate Professor of International Relations at Bucharest University, for an hour long address to students and experts as a part of the Energy Policy Research Group framework. In the events of Ukrainian crisis, the topic of Energy Security in the Black Sea Basin, attracted a large number of attendants.

Professor Aleh Cherp and Jessica Jewell from CEU's Department of Environmental Scienes and Policy publish a co-authored article on the securitzation of energy supply chains in China in Applied Energy.

The special section, published by Global Policy Journal, features a distinguished group of contributors, among other Fatih Birol, Chief Economist of the International Energy Agency, Diana Urge-Vorsatz of CEU and the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Shonali Pachauri of the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA).
